Why Local Food Tastes Better (And How Your Box Makes a Difference)

If you’ve ever sliced into a just-picked tomato or bit into a sun-warmed strawberry, you already know: local food just tastes better. But flavor is only part of the story. When you choose to eat local, you’re not just treating your taste buds—you’re making a bigger impact.
Freshness You Can Taste
Most grocery store produce travels thousands of miles before it reaches your cart. Along the way, it’s picked before peak ripeness, stored in cold warehouses, and loses nutrients and flavor.
Tend & Table produce is picked fresh from Wisconsin farms and delivered to you with care—often within 48 hours. That means crisp greens, juicy tomatoes, and real flavor the way nature intended.
Supporting the Land and the People
Every time you order a Harvest Box, you’re supporting more than 100 Wisconsin family farms—many of whom lost major contracts due to budget cuts in 2024. Tend & Table was built to give these farmers a new way to connect with families like yours.
And that impact goes even further: a portion of every purchase helps fund fresh food donations to local pantries. So your table isn’t the only one you’re feeding.
What’s in the Box?
Each week, you’ll get a rotating mix of seasonal fruits and vegetables, often harvested just days before delivery. You might find:
-
Heirloom tomatoes, cucumbers, and salad greens in July
-
Sweet corn, melons, and zucchini in August
-
Apples, squash, and potatoes as we move into fall
And depending on the week, we often include locally made extras—like cottage cheese, roasted veggie mixes, or jams.
When you choose Tend & Table, you're not just eating better. You're helping rebuild Wisconsin’s local food system—one box at a time. That’s something to feel good about.
